A new report, Mentoring Women in Reentry, has been released by the Women's Prison Association (WPA). This WPA Practice Brief discusses the benefits of mentoring and specifically how gender may influence mentoring. The WPA approach to mentoring is highlighted as well as other mentoring programs.

The Correctional Association of New York’s Women in Prison Project has posted, My Sister’s Keeper: A Book for Women Returning Home from Prison or Jail, which was created by the Coalition for Women Prisoners' Reentry Committee. This book contains some honest, from the heart, advise by ex-offenders about how to survive and thrive after being released from an institution. For those of you working in jails, their struggles will affirm much of what you already know and may even help shape some of your reentry programs and policies.

We are proud to introduce a new Women Offenders forum. This public forum is moderated by the National Institute of Corrections's Maureen Buell.

Questions and discussion topics for this forum can cover a wide range of areas to include policy, practice, programs, treatment, operations as well as addressing inquiries from administrators, managers, line staff -- essentially anyone who has in interest in the issue of women detained and sentenced to the criminal justice system.
