April 15th - Can we get a dvd?

My name is Clay Heintze, Training and Development Specialist 3 for the Louisiana Dept of Public Safety and Corrections. We have already registered for the broadcast for April 15th regarding Corrections Budgets, however we are having problems getting our satellites to work (problems since Hurricanes Gustav and Ike). Would it be possible to receive a dvd of the program? Thank You, Clay Heintze

Q. I am coordinating the broadcast for my agency, what do I need to do?

A. You need to go the http://nicic.org/sitecoordinators and download the Site Coordinator's Guide. This document will provide all the instructions you will need to successfully coordinate a broadcast for your agency.

Q. What will I see when I tune into the test signal ½ hour prior to the program?

A. A full screen will read:

National Institute of Corrections
[Program Title]
[Date]

Q. What should I do if I can't find the test signal at that time?

A. You should:

Call the Corrections Learning Network at 800-531-4288 for assistance. If necessary:
Call the local company that installed your dish and receiver. They should be able to help you with installation issues.

Q: I know I am on the right satellite and channel - Why can't I receive the program?

A: Try all of the channels on that satellite. Sometimes the channel on your receiver is different than the transponder number.

Q: The satellite designated for the broadcast is not programmed into my receiver.

A: You will have to hire a professional satellite installer to program in that satellite.

Q: Why do you broadcast on both C-band and KU satellites?

A: Multiple signals allow NIC to reach as many downlink sites as possible. Downlink sites have satellite dishes to receive either or both bands in order to receive the satellites that carry their most-used programs.

Q. What should I do if I wait until the day of the broadcast to find the signal and have trouble getting the program?

A. From past experience, NIC has found that sites waiting until the day of the broadcast may not get the signal, unless they have someone on site who knows how to use the equipment. We strongly suggest you plan ahead and have a qualified individual program the satellite into your receiver.

Q. How can I test my Internet setup before the live broadcast?

A. You can test your computer/Internet settings by viewing one of our past broadcasts. The format and system requirements are the same as for the live broadcasts. You can find past streaming videos here.
