    Check with someone from Florida. They have a very good training program for prison ministry people and the background check is done then too. I class was held in Tallassee years ago at a Bible College.

    Good Point Curtis! I get down and sometimes all I have is negative comments. That needs to change. Oh corrections needs to change. That's for sure. But it can start with CO's who are proud of the job they do. Maybe it's time we add "positive & professional" to fair, firm and consistent.

    I have to agree with you on this one. The public wants offenders locked up and forgotten. Problem is with that kind of thinking, one day they will get out and be your next door neighbor. I think we are still viewed as "guards" and not correctional officers.

    Anybody out there got any ideas on where a correctional officer can go to better himself? I've been in corrections for a little over 4 years. I have a AAS degree in criminal justice. I would love to work as surveilance officer, counselor or maybe bailiff. What you all think. Where I'm at their is no chance for advancement unless you are ...

    Here in south Georgia, the turnover rate is high. We have many in management positions that were promoted by what I call the "buddy- buddy" system. Most do not have a college education and don't care for officers that are trying to go to school.

  • Psychological testing used to evaluate prisoners for classification

    Can any one help me get started on this term paper? I've been in correctiona for 4+ years (Georgia) but know very little about this subject. I would like to compare a couple test and their ability to give an accurate picture of the offender
