  • Re: ACA Telephone Requirements

Amanda, At our facilities an individual comes in every Wednesday to work on inmate phones on their unit. We currently just have a type written memo in a display case to that effect, that the calls are being monitored. This is in Oklahoma!

  • Re: 12 hour shifts

Sorry this is so late! We have gone to 12 hour shifts at our prison! It is nice to have every other weekend off. However, we still have the same problems as before of people calling off on payday weekends....I think majority of staff enjoy the 12 hour thing. Don't know how this effects sick time, not privy to that information!

  • Re: Corrections Officer Self Defense/Defensive Tactics Training Program

Steve, What information do you have concerning PPCT? Went through some very vague training today on this....it was hurried training due to our lack of staff at our facility....Also, what more information do you have on this program you talk of? Thank you! David

  • Re: C.O. Turnover

Ryan, Good day to you! At our facility there is much turnover. Some decide this is not the line of work they want to be in. Some don't like the pay, the hours, the staff. Said to say some of the higher ups have very little communication or management skills. They go to class once a year, because it looks good on paper, but when they get back ...
  • Re: Computers and Inmate Records

Good Morning! At our facility our inmates have jackets that carry different information concerning the particular offense. Such as i.e. courts, case reports, reviews etc. These jackets stay on the particular unit that the inmate is housed and is under lock and key! Only certain staff can access this information. Paperless, sounds nice! ...

  • Re: Merit Pay Research

Just my personal observation! Usually when someone gets a merit raise they will be determined to do a better job. However if you have someone at your facility just to "get a check" they may not care what their performance is,except to do what they have to do to get by. At our facility we were told their would be no merit raises this year ...

  • Re: Policy on items (list) inmates are allowed to have in cells

Ofc. Perry, Good day to you. At our facility in Oklahoma we have a matrix set up for inmates to what they can and cannot have in their cells. One thing  is their clothing, another thing is personal mail, legal mail etc. Also, wheter or not an inmate can have hobby craft projects in their cells too is determined. I will look into this ...

  • Re: Recruiting & Retaining New Workers

Fodder, I like what you had to say! I know we use job fairs, don't know how well they work??? Not too many people read newspapers anymore when you can get what you want off the internet....YOUtube sounds like a thought. Perhaps, if the facilities worked with local high schools, community colleges, etc. they could perhaps help each other. This ...

  • Re: Inmate Visitation list

Glen, at our facility we use a system by Citrix that is an Offender Management System. Our inmates have certain days and times they can visit. In this database it has a list of visitors that are permitted to visit. Depending on the inmates level determines how many can be on their visiting list. Every 120 days they can review this. Add, ...
