    1) ADP is 45 (we are a small BIA jail). 2) We stopped serving coffee in the morning about 2 years ago. Besides upset inmates there really wasn't a problem. 3) Feed directly in their cells. 4) we offer single serving coffee packets and small bags through our commissary provider.

    PaladinChief: We work 12 hours shifts and during the shift there is a rotation after 6 hours.  This is so the same Officer isn't on a post for the entire shift.  What I like is the rotation we are on gives us every other weekend off and its for 3 days... ON Monday Tuesday Off Wednesday, Thursday On Friday, Saturday, Sunday Off ...

    I don't know if there is a standard in Wisconsin, but I have never seen it in writing. At our facility the ratio is 45 inmates (average) to 3 officers per shift, which works out to 15:1. That has increased since they took away my 4th officer in 2002 for budgetary reasons.

    To answer your questions:We have essentially 3 posts: The male wing, the female wing, and the Shift Supervisor who watches the main control room.The officers watch their post, and take breaks accordingly.Officers usually stay with those posts because there are only three.     The State of Wisconsin only requires an 120 hour, or 3 week certification course. They are working on increasing it to 160 hours, but they have been saying that since I went to certification in 1997. I did not realize that we were that low.
