    I dont know if there are any specific inmate to officer ratios in Arkansas we have open bay barracks (3 levels, Upper tier and Lower tier  55 inmates and the middle tier dayroom).  We have 1 officer watching 2 barracks at a time so max is 110 per officer.  We have a rover or a housing sergeant that comes to assist the ...

    FTO's get a FTO pin.... and a 8 hours training course which counts toward the required training to be promoted....   I will have to say it is interesting that there are some incentives in other places that would and could improve our states program...

    Arkansas Department of Corrections 1. All uniformed staff have to qualify each year... Mini 14, Revolver, shotgun... .40 Glock for the Emergency Response Team 2. Not sure of classroom.. but we were on the range for 2 days 3. Same qual course each year... Number of rounds Mini 14 - 40 rounds I dont rememeber for the revolver or Shotgun...

    We have 2 "cages" in our isolation intake.  They are used during the process of inventorying property and processing in the inmates.  Isolation is used for many reasons.  Protective custody, Administrative or punitive custody.  While in the "cage" they inmates are cuffed and seated.

    We work 12 hours shifts and during the shift there is a rotation after 6 hours.  This is so the same Officer isn't on a post for the entire shift.  What I like is the rotation we are on gives us every other weekend off and its for 3 days...
