Hello all, I've exhausted my resources and thought I would turn to you for assistance. I thought there was a Kansas statute forbidding any relationship between a CO and an Inmate that didn't remain exactly that. But I can't find a reference for it. I did find one regarding unlawful sexual relations, but that's not my focus. Here, my focus is on CO's offering legal counsil, therapy, and other non-romantic examples. There may not be one, but it sure seems like I saw one years back.

    Thanks in advance,

    Shane

sounds like what you are referring to is what is commonly referred to as "inappropriate boundaries."  What that means in real-person langauge is that we aren't supposed to cross the lines and get overly involved with the inmates, regardless of their situations.  If they are in need of help, we help them.  That means we refer them to medical or to mental health or to legal for additional assistance.  But we are not supposed to step outside of our own personal limits.  Persons who do this place both themselves and the facility at risk.

Log on, if interested, provide inpute, feedback, suggestions. No risk. No problems. We're on YOUR team. Fix the system.

To fix the sysem you have to join it.

I'd be surprised if the KS State Legislature wrote that into statute, but you'd certainly find it under your State Corrections S.O.P. Personal Dealings are universally prohibited. Just curious -- why are you asking?

I was going over some old training materials and found a notation I had made like six years ago.
