The Campbell Collaboration "was founded on the principle that systematic reviews on the effects of interventions will inform and help improve policy and services."  Forum participants are likely already familiar with the Collaboration's Crime & Justice component, "an international network of researchers that prepares, updates, and rapidly disseminates systematic reviews of high-quality research conducted worldwide on effective methods to reduce crime and delinquency and improve the quality of justice."  A new review addresses the fundamental issue of the costs and benefits of different sentencing options.  The authors point out that cost and benefit information is increasingly required by policymakers, yet the authors found only a small number of studies to include, some with methodologies they find lacking.
