New from the Urban Institute, Broken Bonds: Understanding and Addressing the Needs of Children with Incarcerated Parents "seeks to develop a better understanding of this distinct population of children through a review of empirical research on the topic."  It includes recommendations for action on the parts of those in involved in research, policy, and service delivery to better address the significant risks faced by children with incarcerated parents.  To the research community, it presents several areas in need of further study to "contribute more toward our understanding of how the impact of parental incarceration on children may differ based upon both child and parental characteristics."
