We have many housing facilities available to offenders on parole. These facilities don't have contracts with the state, they are simply either individuals who have homes and rent out rooms or a small agency that owns several homes and want to provide housing to offenders. We would like to know if others have this type of housing and if so, if you have criteria that must be met by the owners.

Lana that is great what size community do you live in?  Is the community supportive of this type of housing?

It's in Austin, TX, about a million people - but actually, we have this type of housing all over the state. We have some criteria that needs to be met, for instance, separate restrooms if it houses men and women, no children on site, etc. But we were wondering if this is being done anywhere else and if so, what criteria is used to determine if the house is suitable. The community support depends on the location, some areas don't mind but others have problems with it. Most of the homes only hold 5-10 people.

I'm in rural Oregon and housing of this type does not exsist.  Most of Oregon is rural and I have not heard of much of this type of housing.  I am close to Idaho and it does not seem as if Idaho has it available.  Thanks for posting good luck with your search.
