Does anyone do pretrial drug testing. If so, which clients get them, why and if they violate how do you deal with it. Or should I say what is your policy on drug testing. Any info you have would be useful.

A few years ago, some judges would order pretrial defendants to enter domestic violence and/or substance abuse treatment at their own expense. This practice was abandoned without any "back up plan" to meet treatment needs. Unfortunately, the agency (pretrial) did not monitors success rates with ordered treatment versus no treatment. Has any other program had a similar situation and monitored the outcomes? Also, do you have any insight/thoughts re: pretrial defendants being ordered to pay for treatment or any other special conditions (drug screens, em)?

Thinking for a Change Facilitator Training

This is a 32-hour advanced level training program that will prepare participants to facilitate offender groups utilizing the Thinking for a Change cognitive skills development program.

Who Should Attend: Probation, Parole, Counselors and other staff reponsible for leading offender groups in the Thinking for a Change program.

When: April 21-24, 2008

Where: William Green Federal Building, 600 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA, GSA Conference Room 2A.

Pretrial Services Recommended for Accreditation

The Alachua County Pretrial Services Program has been recommended by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission to receive accreditation status on February 19, 2008 at the FLA-PAC Conference to be held at the Belleview Biltmore Resort 25 Belleview Blvd., in Clearwater, Florida.

The Alachua County Pretrial Services program is the first non-sworn Pretrial program in the State of Florida and the nation to receive this honor.

Completing the accreditation process offers Pretrial programs the opportunity to evaluate their operations against standards developed by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission in conjunction with the Association of Pretrial Professionals of Florida. The Pretrial Justice Institute and the National Association of Pretrial Service Agencies located in Washington, DC were also instrumental in providing guidance ensuring those standards implement were those ensuring the agencies used current best practices. Florida has set the standard by being the first state in the nation to offer accreditation of Pretrial programs. Alachua County, a leader in the field, recognized the value of earning this honor and is proud to receive this recognition.

Though accreditation is not mandatory, this process allows Pretrial programs to standardize their practices, eliminate deficiencies and upgrade the quality of Pretrial Services based on the aspects of Florida law and best practices providing pretrial justice to the citizens of the State of Florida.

Do any agencies perform house checks on there clients. If so what are you policies for them, and do you have the authority to detain subjects of non-compliance.
