In the section of the Corrections Community concerning requesting access to private forums, a "Legal Issues" forum is listed. Members are attempting to join this forum and their messages are coming to me as the Moderator of the Chief Legal Counsel Forum. This probably should be corrected because the forum I moderate is mainly for General Counsels of DOC's. It is not a general "legal issues" forum. Thanks.

Video Visiting

Yakima County Department of Corrections is considering all of its jail to video visiting, versus face to face visiting. I would be interested in learn about what other Jail are doing. If they have video visiting, how is it working, why type of equipment do they use. pdf files not loading

Access to the NIC Learning Center

I co-chair the Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice Safety & Security Committee. I took a 2 of NIC classes and recommended that all members of the DJJ SSC take them as well. Unfortunately several have had difficulty accessing the classes. The 2 classes are Leadership in Critical Incidents & Emergency Preparedness & Response are these classes available on disk?

Inmate visitation policies

I am the process of revising the inmate visitation policy and was looking around at other Facility’s to see how often they permit family and or friends to visit. Also to see if they even allow friends to visit, I say that knowing that some facility’s only permit immediate family to visit and I am curious as to the strengths and weaknesses to such a Policy.

There have been a number of members that have reported that their posts in the forum are turning up blank. We have confirmed this to be a problem on some computer since the upgrade.

We need your assistance in determining what the reason for this problem. If you are experiencing this problem, please post a message here. This will subscribe you to this thread so that you can receive updates about this issue.

Temporary Fix: Until we resolve this issue, here is a temporary solution that will allow you to post your messages in plain text. The issue seems to be surrounding the ability to use the text formatting box that is enabled by default. Using the plain textbox without the formatting option seem to work for those who have tried it. Here are the instructions:

From any web page at http://community.nicic.org:

Click "Edit Profile" in the upper-right corner of the screen (you must be logged in to see this)
Select the "Site Options" tab
Change the "Content Editor" setting to "Plain Text"
Click "Save" at the bottom of the page
