I recently took a position at a facility where the planned use of force for cell extraction calls for intorduction of OC spray followed by use of less lethal amunition discharged from an FN 303 for inmates who refuse to comply. I am familiar with the use of OC and other chemical agents and the traditonal 5 man move team with shield. The use of less lethal munitions is a new process for me. I am curious to find out if any other jurisdictions use a similar method or any other less lethal weapons in their routine cell extraction process.

Except in rare circumstances, I would stay away from the FN 303 deployment system for cell extractions. Most cell extractions represent a calculated use of force situation which presents time for planning the extraction. The proper deployment of OC should be enough. I believe there is too much potential liabilty with the FN 303 sytem in the closeness of a cell.
