A few years ago, some judges would order pretrial defendants to enter domestic violence and/or substance abuse treatment at their own expense. This practice was abandoned without any "back up plan" to meet treatment needs. Unfortunately, the agency (pretrial) did not monitors success rates with ordered treatment versus no treatment. Has any other program had a similar situation and monitored the outcomes? Also, do you have any insight/thoughts re: pretrial defendants being ordered to pay for treatment or any other special conditions (drug screens, em)?
