I am curious as to how each agency is meeting the standard below.  I do not want to create the "wheel" again so if you could send me any information on this, I would appreciate it.
4-ALDF-2A-43:  Program personnel who work with youthful offenders are trained in the developmental, safety, and other specific needs of youthful offenders. Written job descriptions and qualifications require training for staff who are responsible for programming of youthful offenders in the specialized unit before being assigned to work with youthful offenders. A. adolescent development                                                       I.   substance-abuse services

    B. educational programming                                                    J.  cognitive-behavioral interventions, including anger

    C. cultural awareness                                                                   management, social-skills training, problem solving

    D. crisis prevention and intervention                                        K. resisting peer pressure

    E. legal issues                                                                            L. suicide prevention

    F. housing and physical plant                                                    M. nutrition

    G. policies and procedures                                                       N. mental-health issues

are you able to n/a this standard? we had 3 under 18 during the audit cycle (they were adjudicated as adults) and the auditors let use take a n/a. Otherwise it pretty difficult for an adult facility.

In Jacksonville, Florida, we have 48 juvenile offenders as of this date.  We were questioned on this standard by the auditors.  Although we did the majority of the required training, there were still some areas that we did not specifically train the officers on that work in the juvenile area of our facility.  We have since rectified that.  It is a huge standard to meet but we have done it.

This is a standard my department is trying to fulfill right now. My department is divided into Juvenile and Adult facilities. I have been tasked with creating a program that trains Adult Corrections Officers in these areas. My question is, what resources are departments using to create factual presentations to train their staff in the effective management of youthful offenders?
