Welcome, Jim! I hope that as this community grows, it will provide you with exactly the networking opportunity you describe. As you look at assessment and treatment research, I hope you'll consider my post in this forum, Evaluating Correctional Research. The Canadian study mentioned there provides guidelines for evaluating sexual offender treatment outcome research. A few other items I'm aware of are this broad overview of current treatment research from the Center for Sex Offender Management, and two new Research Bulletins (although focusing more on probation) out of New York State on clinical and structured assessment, and actuarial assessment. Spinning more toward recidivism prediction, you may have seen the new NIJ-funded report studying the validity of seven instruments for predicting sex offender recidivism. Also Public Safety Canada's meta-analysis of the same. Finally, while not exactly on your topic, I'd feel remiss if I didn't mention the extensive series of sex offender reports put out by our friends at the Washington State Institute for Public Policy. But as you know, the journal literature is where most of this action is happening. I hope this forum will put you in touch with those on the leading edge of publishing in this field. Thank you for your introduction.
