Welcome to the new Correctional Research Roundtable, a discussion group for practitioners and those in the academic community involved in correctional research.  As we begin to add participants, I'd love to hear who you are, what organization you are affiliated with, and any thoughts regarding ways an online discussion group among your peers might assist you in your work.  I'll hold my own ideas about the latter point until we get some thinking coming in from you all, but I'll start regarding the former.  I'm Eileen Conway, and I've been coordinating the library services for the National Institute of Corrections for quite some time (dare I admit to better than 25 years?).  My office phone is (303) 365-4422, or (800) 877-1461, x4422.  Since this is a public forum accessible by anyone, I'll hold off on sharing my email, except by private reply.  Having observed the correctional research arena for so long, I'm excited about the potential this forum might have, and look forward to your thoughts.

Hello, my name is Cpl. James Aguiar, Jr. - I have been in Corrections since 1986. I work with the Marion County Sheriff's Office in Ocala, Florida. I feel this discussion group could be very benefical and very educational (I am still learning things every day). Each one of us all go through almost the same types of issues (maybe a little different because of geographical location, certain high prority cases, or even certain statues or laws), why re-invent the wheel. I believe we all can share or knowledge and experiences to help each other out. Thank you!

Hi, I'm Bob Levinson.  I recently retired after 2 years as Chief Psychologist at the State Home for Boys in Jamesburg, New Jersey; 22 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, initially, Project Director and chief Psychologist at the National Training School in Washington, DC and then as Deputy Assistant Director at the Central Office in Washington, DC; and, finally, as Special Projects Manager for the Amereican Correctional Association in Alexandria, Virginia.

I was a member of NIC's listserv and look forward to communicating with others incorrections through this medium.

Greetings.  I am Scott Weygandt, Research Analyst with NIC's Offender Workforce Development Division.  I also run the Offender Employment Blog.  I believe this forum has unlimited potential, as the number of consumers of research continues to increase.  This would be a great forum for those in the field who are just beginning to seek out, read, and then apply research to be able to ask researchers questions relative to methods, results, and the like.  I look forward to participating.

Hello, I am Aaron Hartman and I am the Director for Community Corrections in Malheur County Oregon one of the last Frontier Counties in the West if not the last.  I started in jail corrections and transferred to community corrections 2 years ago.  I am looking forward to hearing what our peers think of current research and where new research discussions might take us.
