I'm teaching classes in corrections.  My students are inquisitive about grants for ex-offenders.  Are there any foundations that grant grants to ex-offenders or non-for- profit organizations?  Also, do the the government offer grants to ex-offenders, and non-for-profit organizations for employment purposes?

You might try bouncing this question off the folks at the American Correctional Association. I bet they'd know. Sorry I can't be more helpful

Try this website, this a federal program for all employers http://www.bonds4jobs.com/

     Work Opportunity Tax Credit

    Federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) authorized by the Small Business Job Protection Act of 1996 (P.L. 104-188),

is a federal tax credit that encourages employers to hire eight targeted groups of job seekers

including ex-offenders by reducing employers' federal income tax liability by as much as $2,400 per qualified new worker.

I hope you got your answer, you seem to have gotten quite a few replies. I did not see where anyone had suggested the USDOL. In the past I have noticed several RFPs sent out speceifically addressing ex-offenders. It couldn't hurt to go to their web site to check periodically.
