The Institute of Behavioral Research at Texas Christian University has provided access to "Brief Interventions for the TCU Treatment System."  These manuals are based on cognitive-behavioral models and evidence-based research. The materials are designed for counselors and group facilitators working in substance abuse treatment programs. Motivation to change, building social skills, developing social networks and better communication are just a few of the areas addressed. While intended for a group setting, the concepts and exercises can be adapted for individual sessions.
