Hello. I am very much interested in hearing about any gang related violence happening anywhere in the prison systems. I would also like to hear any gang related info on new tatoos, signs, New Gangs, etc. and what types of gangs you have in your system. Please also state where you are from.

I work in a MAryland prison and am seeing gangs grow and form more readily than before and the amount of viloence seems to be escalating as well. we also have a few of our gangs splitting and fighting amongst themselves for control of that particular gang. Anyone else seeing this?

Pebs, try the National Institute of Corrections website www.nicic.org

and search on "gangs"; for example http://nicic.org/BrowseTheLibrary/Topic206.htm

    Pebs,

What kind of STG's are you seeing in your area?  One of the problem we're having here in Iowa is with the Hispanic groups.  Of the gangs doing the infigthing, our Hispanic gang members seem to do the most of it.  Hits are going out like crazy.  There are a few good web sites out there.  www.chicagogangs.org is one that I use frequently.  Naturally in Iowa our largest gang populations are Folk and People Nation sets out of Chicago.  One of the things I like about that particular site is that they have niformation on many of the new sets coming out of Chicago.  Another one that you might find interesting is www.gangsorus.com.  Any Department with STG's is going to have gang related violence.  Do you have any kind of intelligence apparatus in place?

    Pebs,

Good Morning! We have several gangs on our yard.IBH, Crips, Bloods, UAB just to mention a few. I would encourage you to check out Texas DOC, Florida DOC, www.aca.org      they have information on gangs, pictures, books etc. I am in Oklahoma...you will find gangs pretty much throughtout the system. Some young fellows once on a yard will want to make a name for themselves. Also, some new to a yard will seek out a gang for protection. Good luck to you.

We have many problems  between the bloods, crips, dmi, and bgf.  Currently, we have them all separtated and housed in segregation(validated members).

Thanks for the info! Gangs or us is a great site.

Or intell consist of a group in the upper levels of the system that only sit in a room and say we have this problem , let's do this. The only  intell at our prison is 1 officer and 1 case manager who have taken it upon themselves to learn all they can about the gangs and teach us what they know in 1 to 2 hours classes each year. Not enough by my standards!
