The practice of motivational interviewing (MI) has gained ground in recent years as an effective best practice for the criminal justice field. It has long been utilized with success in the field of substance abuse. In 2008 the Missouri DOC Reentry Leadership Team researched the benefits of MI, and prescribed its use in the department’s new case management protocol. This course has been designed to meet the needs of Missouri’s case management team members in their interactions and interviews with offenders.
