This 4 hour training program will provide correctional staff with the basic knowledge and skills need to work with offenders who have special needs. Discussed in this program are offenders who are mentally challenged; who have learning disabilities; are emotionally disturbed; who have personality disorders; or have medical or physical issues. This curriculum provides participants with the opportunity to assess possible problems an offender with special needs might encounter and determine how those problems can be accommodated. It also challenges participants to analyze security issues and determine what actions should be taken when dealing with special needs offenders.
