Electro-Muscular Disruption Technology: Is it Safe?

The debate on the merits of Electro-Muscular Disruption Technology (EMDT) is far from over.  EMDT is a group of devices that use a high-voltage, low power charge of electricity to induce involuntary muscle contractions that cause temporary incapacitation.  Are EMDTs a valuable less-than-lethal option in the use-of-force continuum, or do they pose a threat of death or serious injury?  Proper training may be the key.  Read on.
