Interview with Diana Bailey from inside the MDSE Mobile Unit

Maryland's Correctional Education Transition Mobile Unit was recently featured at the National Defender/Workforce Conference in Cleveland, Ohio.  The Mobile Unit provides transitional information and library services for inmates in the pre-release system in Maryland.  The unit, which was designed and is operated by the Maryland State Department of Education, travels across the Maryland to prepare men and women for release from incarceration into the community and employment.

The video below is an interview with Diana Bailey, Workforce Development/Transition Coordinator with the Maryland State Department of Education, from inside the Mobile Unit.

I am the career skills teacher at Cheltenham Youth Facility  in Cheltenham, Md. We teach boys from 13-19 years old. I would very much like to invite Diana Bailey to come with the Mobile Unit and speak with our students and perhaps allow them a day for getting involved with the mobile unit and hearing about your services. You can reach me at: 301-655-2921.

What can I say about Diana Bailey that hasn't already been said? She is the best and has extensive knowledge on correctional education and its best practices in assisting men and women transition from our prisons to the community. We were very happy to have the Mobile Unit come to Cleveland for the DOWD conference and hope that other states can follow in Maryland's footsteps in duplicating this innovative and outstanding practice!
