In the news: America's "most imaginative" reentry program; a second chance in Philadelphia; fighting crime with reentry in New Jersey

The dailypress.com claims that Kansas has the "most imaginative prisoner reentry program."  Read about it here.

Pennsylvania Senator Shirley Kitchen (D) wrote an opinion piece in the Philadelphia Daily News.  Senator Kitchen advocates for a "second chance law" that would place a limit on how long a criminal conviction would stay on someone's record.  Read the full opinion here.

Finally, this article outlines the Governor of New Jersey's reentry strategy.

The article is wonderful!

But I was convicted of aggrivated assault 171/2 years ago.

I havent been in any trouble since. I"m law abiding own my home, children receive certificates in school.

But" the change wont help me because the crime was violent. I caught my ex husband in bed with a young woman! I was 22 years of age at the time. She wouldnt

leave so one thing lead to another which; resulted in my being arrested and convicted of aggrivated assault, and other charges that would keep a person from gainning  respectful employment to support there family. And thats sad because unemployment leads to depression, and a loss of ones self worth! Particully if you've changed your whole life around and still be, punished over and over for the one mistake you made..
