The National Institute of Corrections is soliciting proposals to facilitate planning and delivery of training for first-term sheriffs through the National Sheriffs' Institute (NSI).  NSI is a seven-day program co-sponsored by NIC and the National Sheriffs' Association.  Under a cooperative agreement, the awardee will work closely with the NIC Jails Division to review and assess current training, revise curricula, and coordinate delivery of training during a three-year project period.  The full solicitation is posted on Grants.gov.  Applications are due on June 19, 2009.  Link here for additional information regarding forms and application procedures for NIC Cooperative Agreements.

(NOTE:  The Program Description and Agenda from a recent NSI training are attached to this blog.  There is no flexibility to the closing date of June 19, 2009 for applications for this cooperative agreement.)
