The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) mandates that correctional authorities provide an environment free of sexual violence and harassment. But how does an agency go about designing and implementing effective policies to ensure compliance with PREA? The experiences of the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services (DYS) serve as an example of how this process may be undertaken. Article here.

Great article and we need to across this country fix laws so minors are not charged as adults in this country for acts like consensual sex etc. My son story is horrifying and at sixteenhe was charged as a adult and no longer has a opportunity to live a normal teenager life as he is beingmade to register for life by law. These cases need to be reviewed and put back in juvenile courts much like the Genarlo case where they are misdemeanors so these boys ahve chances to live and work and be productive.
