The National Institute of Corrections still has room available in the Planning of New Institutions (PONI) class. This class is being offered February 25-28, 2007, at the National Corrections Academy in Aurora, Colorado. Team members must have key policymaking and decisionmaking roles in the new jail project. This training program is designed for four-person teams. The team must include the sheriff or director of corrections, the jail administrator, a county commissioner or county supervisor, and the county executive or administrator. The jurisdiction should have made a firm decision to build, but not yet having schematics, drawings and blueprints. The program description is in the Technical Assistance, Information, and Training for Adult Corrections, 2007-2008 Catalog on pages 43 and 44. Applicants must submit Form A as soon as possible.
