In these times of tight budget dollars there are several resources available that might help you find some additional dollars for your facility. The Budget Guide for Jail Administrators: Beyond Budget Allocation - Sources of Funding and Services contains information that goes beyond only looking at traditional ways of funding the jail. This document was the last in a series of three documents. The other two are Developing the Budget and Managing the Budget. There have been several articles in local papers where county officials are proposing charging development impact fees to generate revenue for new jail construction. This has been proposed as an alternative to asking the voters for an increase in property taxes.
