A new document is now available, "Getting it Right: Collaborative Problem Solving for Criminal Justice", developed by Peggy McGarry and Becki Ney, Center for Effective Public Policy, for the National Institute of Corrections. This guide will help all components of the criminal justice system work together to realize the vision they create for their community. The five sections which comprise this manual are:
- A Comprehensive Planning Process: Overview
- Establishing the Policy Team and the Process
- Keeping the Focus on Outcomes
- Building an Understanding of Your System
- Moving From Understanding to Change
Guidelines for Developing a Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee explains the needs and advantages of forming such a group. Another resource, Beyond the Myths: The Jail in Your Community, is available on DVD to help explain the purpose of jails and build community support.
