There is an emerging sector of the labor market that many are starting to call "Green Collar Jobs". For example, Colorado has created thousands of jobs related to green/energy efficient work over the past two years. Preparing inmates for this new job sector may prove to be beneficial for inmates as they transition to the community and employers.

In addition, inmates are being utilized to create a more energy efficient facility, thus decreasing operation costs.
