Mental Health and Drug Abuse Treatment - Audio Conference Training

The Association of Paroling Authorities International, with support from the National Institute of Corrections, will be sponsoring an audio conference training on mental health and drug abuse treatment. This training will occur on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 2:00 PM Eastern Savings Time (EST). The targeted audience includes parole board members, mental health practitioners, community corrections personnel, and jail and reentry professionals. The presentation will be 60 minutes long, followed by 30 minutes of Q & A. Membership in the Association of Paroling Authorities International is not required for this training. The answer to this and other questions regarding the use of alcohol, tobacco and the prevalence and treatment of mental health problems in the U.S. are published in the 2005 National Survey on Drug Use & Health. This survey by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration, Office of Applied Studies collects and analyzes data on the general U.S. civilian population to measure patterns and consequences of the use and abuse of illicit drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. This survey also examines the linkage between substance use/abuse and serious psychological distress (SPD) and major depressive episodes (MDE).
