The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, National Institute of Justice has announced the availability of research funds to evaluate the effectiveness of electronic monitoring in the supervision of moderate to high-risk offenders in the community.
The National Conference of State Legislatures has compiled a listing of 2006 preliminary enactments of state statutory provisions authorizing the use of global positioning systems (GPS) to track and monitor sex offenders.
